Day 4 - Grace to Reach
14 Days of Prayer and Fasting
Grace to Reach
Thursday – Day 4
Thought for Today:
More than anything else, the human heart needs grace. Although we do not deserve God’s grace, we receive it freely. As you read this today, take a moment to thank God for His grace—grace that reaches deeper than any sin, farther than any prodigal could wander, and more patient than anyone deserves. God, in His grace, pursued us through Christ Jesus. When we celebrate Easter and Christmas, it should resonate within our souls how good God truly is.
He stepped out of glory, into the muck and mire of this earth by being born as a human. He lived a perfect life, serving others to the point of suffering a criminal’s death on the Cross. Why would the God of the universe come as a lamb instead of a lion? Why would He empty Himself and make Himself of no reputation? Why would He come as a servant rather than being served? Because He came to seek and save those who are lost!
Grace reaches out and grace beckons—come home! Grace calls to the broken, the forsaken, the disenfranchised, and the lost cause. Grace whispers to the problem child, the wounded warrior, the discarded, and the cast out; there is a better way to live. Grace heals and restores the broken, the oppressed, and even the oppressor. Grace doesn’t ask our permission to save. Grace doesn’t wait for us to vote on who gets into the kingdom and who should be left out! Grace is unapologetically reaching, scandalously freeing, saving those we would never consider saving.
Grace will never apologize who it saves. It will save whoever comes and calls out. Whether in the final moments of life, even if not a single day was lived selflessly, grace saves. Grace redeems in places we would never consider sacred. Grace reaches into the depths of depravity. Grace turns darkness into light and never stops moving forward. Grace is not based on our character but on the One who gave His life for us. Grace does not depend on us; it depends on God’s character, who cannot deny Himself. So, He calls those saved by His grace through faith to become proclaimers of this scandalous grace, to reach wherever and whenever He sends them.
Our task is not to ask who can be saved or not; it is simply to proclaim this grace that we have freely received and freely call lost people home to the One who created them and wants them part of His family. Grace reaches through you! But you have to be willing to open your mouth and let others know about this grace available to them.
Verses to Pray and Meditate on:
As Paul and Barnabas left the synagogue that day, the people begged them to speak about these things again the next week. Many Jews and devout converts to Judaism followed Paul and Barnabas, and the two men urged them to continue to rely on the grace of God. The following week almost the entire city turned out to hear them preach the word of the Lord.
Acts 13:42-44 (NLT)
We know that God, who raised the Lord Jesus, will also raise us with Jesus and present us to himself together with you. All of this is for your benefit. And as God’s grace reaches more and more people, there will be great thanksgiving, and God will receive more and more glory. That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day.
2 Corinthians 4:14-16 (NLT)
They preached the word in Perga, then went down to Attalia. Finally, they returned by ship to Antioch of Syria, where their journey had begun. The believers there had entrusted them to the grace of God to do the work they had now completed. Upon arriving in Antioch, they called the church together and reported everything God had done through them and how he had opened the door of faith to the Gentiles, too.
Acts 14:25-27 (NLT)

Prayer Focus:
- Ask the Lord that he would stir within us the desire to proclaim His grace to others.
- Pray for laborers to be sent into this world.
- Ask the Lord to give us a heart like His, a heart that empties itself of all pride and self-preservation, so that we may step into the task of reaching others for his kingdom.
- Think about a person’s name that has yet to respond to God’s grace and pray for them.
- Ask the Lord for open doors all over the world so that His message can be freely proclaimed, even in places where the Bible is illegal and where following Jesus is outlawed.
- Think about your sphere of influence. Do you tell others about God’s grace for them? If not, then pray for wisdom, so that you may have the boldness to speak to others about God’s goodness and grace through Jesus.
