Grace in My Weakness
Tuesday – Day 9
Thought for Today:
I don’t know if you’re like me, but the moment I face trouble, I just want to be delivered from it. My first reaction to any weakness or trial is, "Deliver me, Lord!"
The world we live in seems to have little patience for the weak. Survival of the fittest is not just a motto but a core value. We admire the strong and the powerful, but when we see signs of weakness, we want to run from it, hide it, and put on a brave face, even when we're falling apart inside. When tough times hit, we quickly respond with a “#strong.” There’s something about the human heart that struggles to admit weakness. We want others to see us as strong, resilient, and courageous. Nothing bothers us, and we eat weaknesses for breakfast.
Have you ever thought that your weakness could produce the very thing you desire, strength? The same challenge you are begging the Lord to remove could be the thing that catapults you into God’s strength. Admitting our weakness is not a sign of weakness but of wisdom. When we see things that are too big for us to handle on our own, asking for God’s help shows humility, dependency, and wisdom. Humility, because we do not allow our pride to determine our responses. Dependency, because we show that our reliance is on God, not on ourselves. Wisdom, because wise people know to ask for help when they need it.
My weakness brings me to my knees and shifts my focus from what I can do to what God can do. What I can do is limited; what the Lord can do is unlimited! Paul understood that the only way to overcome his challenges was not to grin and bear it but to pray and share it. Sharing our weaknesses with the Lord brings the grace of Christ, turning our weaknesses into strengths. No wonder Paul says that he boasts about his weaknesses, because God’s grace brings God’s strength when we rely on His power, not our own.
Bring your weakness and your challenge to the Lord, because His grace is all you need and His power works best in weakness!
Verses to Pray and Meditate on:
I hate all this silly religion, but you, God, I trust. I’m leaping and singing in the circle of your love; You saw my pain, You disarmed my tormentors, You didn’t leave me in their clutches but gave me room to breathe.
Psalm 31:6-7 (MSG)
Three different times I begged the Lord to take it away. Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
2 Corinthians 12:8-10 (NLT)
Stand firm against firm, and be strong in your faith. Remember that your family of believers all over the world is going through the same kind of suffering you are. In His kindness God called you to share in His eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, he will restore, support and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation. All power to him forever! Amen.
1 Peter 5:9-11 (NLT)

Prayer Focus:
- Thank the Lord for His peace during our troubles and pray for others facing great trials.
- Ask the Lord for wisdom to seek Him, humility to rely on Him, and grace to trust Him.
- Which area of your life do you need to surrender to God's grace? Take a moment and invite the Holy Spirit to fill you with His peace, even if the circumstances remain the same.
- Pray and release your fears to Him, and ask the Father to protect His people (including you) from the effects and influence of evil.
- Ask the Lord to bring a fresh vitality to your soul and to renew your spiritual fortitude, and in your weakness to make you strong.
- Thank the Lord that when we, the church, are weak, He is strong!
