Daniel Fast Day 1

Daniel Fast 21 Day Devotional

It is essential as we start this 21 day journey of fasting and prayer that we understand the purpose of why we are doing this.

The purpose is:
  • That our whole church family will come in line with God’s plan for our lives.
  • That we will all embrace and seek after the character and nature of Christ Jesus in all areas of life and living.
  • That we will experience God’s power and partner with others to build His kingdom in the earth.

Day 1

Philippians 1:1-5 (NLT) This letter is from Paul and Timothy, slaves of Christ Jesus. I am writing to all of God’s holy people in Philippi who belong to Christ Jesus, including the church leaders and deacons. 2 May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace. 3 Every time I think of you, I give thanks to my God. 4 Whenever I pray, I make my requests for all of you with joy, 5 for you have been my partners in spreading the Good News about Christ from the time you first heard it until now.

In any endeavor in life, if you are going to succeed, you need strategic partnerships. Without the help of others none of us can succeed. There is no such thing as a self-made man or woman; any person that has some measure of success has had the help of others. As Alex Haley said: “If you see a turtle on a fence post, someone put him there…”

We need others and others need us. The key to strategic partnership is not to ask what others can do for me or even to ask what I can do for others. The question to ask is: “What am I a slave to?” Whoever and whatever enslaves us, controls us! Paul, in writing this letter to the Philippians, makes it clear that both he and Timothy are slaves of Christ Jesus. We are bondservants of Christ, He controls us. When you allow Christ to control your life, partnering with others is a natural result.

Our challenge is that when we allow something other than Christ to control us, it leads us to a place where grace is limited, peace is absent, joy is sporadic and partnership with others is non-existent.

Prayer:
  • Ask the Holy Spirit to bring complete freedom in your life.
  • Pray that you will live your life as a bondservant of Christ.
  • Pray and pursue godly, strategic, life-giving partnerships with others.
